Introduction

Meliola is a genus of fungi belonging in the phylum Ascomycota. More than 2000 species of Meliola have been described, of which a little over 1600 are currently accepted. With a few exceptions, the genus is tropical in distribution, and most are highly host-specific biotrophic parasites on leaves and other green parts of their associate plant. With the generous support of the Mohamed Bin Zayed Species Conservation Fund, using data partly acquired through the UK Darwin Initiative project on Fungal Conservation in Sub-Saharan Africa, a workshop on these fungi was held as part of the Fourth International Congress on Fungal Conservation (Benin, West Africa, 3-7 November 2025). Its objective was to explore the possibility of using computers to generate red list evaluations of Meliola species mechanically. This website presents the results of that workshop.
