Qualifications. BA (UANL, Mexico), PhD (Univ. Goettigen, Germany); Darwin Fellow, member of various scientific societies including the Mycological Society of America, American Phytopatological Society, Asociación Latinoamericana de Micología (founder member), Sociedad Mexicana de Micología.

Current position. Professor and Researcher at the Facultad de Ciencias Forestales in Linares, N.L., Mexico. Treasurer of the Sociedad Mexicana de Micología, Member of the Editorial Board of Revista Mexicana de Micología, Leader of the project: White rot fungi on pines in Nuevo León, Mexico.

Previous achievements. Fungal Biodiversity of Ecological Park Chipinque, Mexico, Ecology of litter fungi of three pine species in Nuevo León, Mexico, Use of DELTA for identification of non-poroid Aphyllophorales of Mexico. Ecology and Biodiversity of litter fungi on Matorral Espinoso Tamaulipeco (Tamaulipean thorn scrub vegetation). Guest researcher at the Institute for Forest Plant Protection in Braunschweig, Germany. Guest researcher at the Laboratory of Mycology of Escuela Nacional de Ciencias Biológicas of the Instituto Politecnico Nacional, Mexico.

Expertise. Mycology, identification of ascomycetes (particularly Ophiostomatales, Caliciopsis), conidial fungi (Lecanosticta), litter fungi, and fungi of forest pathological importance. Author and Co-author of several publications.
