Personal details. Cuban, male, year of birth 1965.

Qualifications. Graduate degree: Licenciatura (Biological Sciences), 1988, Havana University; Master of Sciences, Institute of Ecology & Systematics, 1999.

Current position. Scientific research in the Mycological Laboratory of the Institute of Ecology & Systematics from 1988 to 2003.

Expertise. Lichenology and mycology; study of the Cladoniaceae lichen family from a taxonomic point of view. Participation in research on edible mushrooms. Experience of data-entry for computerized biological recording; some experience of maintenance of databases. Co-author of the Conservation Strategy of Fungal Diversity in Cuba. Scientific member in the following projects: Fungi of the Caribbean (Darwin Initiative, 1997-2000); Fungal Diversity at the Sierra del Rosario Biosphere Reserve, Cuba; Electronic distribution maps of Caribbean Fungi (British Council, 200-2003); Biodiversity Conservation in Cuba (Darwin Initiative, 2001-2004); Fungal Diversity in Ecological Reserve "Alturas de Banao", Escambray, Cuba (2002-2004).

Scientific events. Active participation in many different scientific events, attendance to international and national congresses, including Second, Third and Fourth Latin-American Mycological Congresses (La Habana, 1996; Caracas, 1999; Xalapa, 2002); Symposium Flora of the Greater Antilles, New York Botanic Garden (New York, 2000); Workshop of Air Biomonitoring (Mexico, 2002); V Latin-American Congress of Botany (La Habana, 1990); IV Symposium of Botany (La Habana, 1993); II National Exposition of Fungi (La Habana, 1993); II Workshop on Cuban Biodiversity (La Habana, 2000); II Cuban Forestry Congress (La Habana, 1998); Biosphere’ 98 (La Habana, 1998); V Scientific Workshop BTJ-ANIR; VI Forjadores del Futuro Exposition. publications.
