Personal details. Cuban, female, year of birth 1951.

Qualifications. Graduate degree: Licenciatura (Biological Sciences), 1975, Havana University and MSc Botany (Mention in Mycology), 1999, Havana University; appointed Assistant Professor, 1985, Havana University.

Current position. Scientific researcher in the Mycological Laboratory of the National Botanical Garden since 1975.

Expertise: algologist and mycologist specializing in the systematics of diatoms and Discomycetes respectively and in teaching of Botany, Algology and Mycology in the Faculty of Biology (1975-2002); technical adviser in 3 theses of Biology students; scientific member of the Algological Laboratory (1975-1995) and of the Mycological Laboratory (1995-present); curator of the mycological herbarium (1995-1999); Curator of living cultures of algae (1975-1995) and of fungal collections (1995-present). Experience of data-entry for computerized biological recording. Scientific member in the following projects: Fungi of the Caribbean (Darwin Initiative, 1997-2000); Fungal Diversity at the Sierra del Rosario Biosphere Reserve, Cuba; Electronic Distribution Maps of Caribbean Fungi (British Council, 2001-2003); Biodiversity Conservation in Cuba (Darwin Initiative, 2001-2004); Fungal Diversity in Ecological Reserve "Alturas de Banao", Escambray, Cuba (2002-2004).

Scientific events. Active participation in many different scientific events, attendance to more than 15 national and international congresses particularly, IX and X Simposio Nacional de Botánica Criptogámica (Spain, 1991; Spain, 1993), Third Congreso Latinoamericano de Ficología (México, 1993) Second, Third and Fourth Latin-American Mycological Congresses (La Habana, 1996; Caracas, 1999; Xalapa, 2002). Many publications (over 8 in Cuba).
