Capparis flexuosa L.

Bush or tree; leaves elliptic, oblong, or lanceolate to linear, coriaceous, 4-12 cm, commonly obtuse or emarginate, reticulate; petiole 3-11 mm with gland at the axile; flowers in pauciflorous corymbs; pedicels up to 12 mm; sepals almost orbicular, 4-7 mm, the outer ones smaller; petals obovate, 1.5-2 cm; stamens numerous, 3 times larger than petals; fruit linear, 6-20 cm long, 1-1.5 cm wide, dehiscence longitudinal and slow; gynophore centre shorter than fruit.

Common names: mostacilla, palo barba de indio.
