Plant climbing, hairless to sometime pubescent, with tendrils; branches with joints; leaves simple, variable, oblong to heart-shaped or ovate, pointed to obtuse at apex, base almost truncated to cuneate, 5-15 cm long, 1.5-4 cm wide, margin dentate, setose; cymes commonly shorter than opposite leaf, branching 2-3 times; flowers small, yellow-green, white or purple; berry obovoid-globous, black, 8-10 mm.

Common name: bejuco ubí.
