Clidemia hirta (L.) D. Don

Tree 1-4 m, smaller branches, petioles, peduncles and calyx hirsute with large reddish and usually stellate hairs; leaves ovate-elliptic, ovate or lanceolate, 4-16 cm, acuminate base obtuse to rounded, usually emarginate, and oblique, almost entire or slightly crenate, 5-nerved or 3-plinerved, hirsute on both faces; cymes pauciflorous, 1-3 cm, axilliary and terminal; flowers almost directly attached or with petioles 3-6 mm, in groups of 5-6; tube of calyx 5 mm, lobes 1.5 mm, teeth 5 mm, petals white or with small pink patches, 7-10 mm, anthers 5 mm, lanceolate; connective under anthers slightly elongated, with 2 tubercles at base; ovary 5-celled; berry hirsute, blue, 6-7 mm, ovoid, 5-celled.

Common name: cordobán peludo.
