Croton corylifolius Lam.

Bush or tree, 4-10 m, aromatic; leaves broadly ovate or elliptic to oblong-elliptic, 3-13 cm long, 2-6 cm wide, rounded to obtuse at the apex, obtuse to almost heart-shaped at the base, margin irregularly serrate-dentate, sometimes with cylindrical glands, the petiole with 2 glands at apex, the younger ones covered with stellate hairs, the older ones with fewer hairs, or almost hairless; racemes 10-20 cm or less, 16-18 stamens; ovary white, tomentous, styles in two parts from the centre; capsule 1 cm, hairy.

Common name: guásima roja.
