Tree up to 15 m; leaves lanceolate-oblong or lanceolate-elliptic, coriaceous, 6-15 cm, pointed or acuminate at apex, reticulate; petioles 5-15 mm; axilliary panicles with few to many flowers; pedicels 4-7 mm; staminodes, if present, directly attached; stamens with hirsute filaments; fruit globose or almost globose, blue or almost black, 10-18 mm; cup red or yellow.

Common name: cigüa.
