Apart from tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum L.), various plant species are cultivated at different times of the year in Viñales, some on a small scale mainly destined for the consumption of the farmers (frequently with rustic and ecological ploughs for tilling the soil) and others on a greater scale for commercialization.

Among the crops one can find rice (Oryza sativa L.), sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas Poir.), coffee (Coffea arabica Benth.), sugar cane (Saccharum officinarum L.), beans (Phaseolus vulgaris L.), malanga (Xanthosoma sagittifolium Schott.), maize (Zea mays L.), pineapple (Ananas comosus (L.) Merrill) and cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz.), among others.
