Ground growing herb, saxicolous, occasionally epiphytic, succulent, simple or sparsely ramose, 15-25(-35) cm tall; stem upright, generally reddish-green, with vestitude variable in length and density, often hirsute; leaves in verticils of 3-6, rarely opposite; petiole 0.1-0.4 cm long, sulcate in distal part, densely pubescent; leaf-surface in lower leaves almost round or obovate, 0.8 cm long, 2(-2.5) cm wide; upper leaves oval, oblong-elliptic or elliptic and villous on both sides, sometimes almost glabrous on upperside, or reddish-green on underside with spotted glands, obtuse to almost pointed, base obtuse or cuneiform, margin ciliolate; venation palmate 3-5 main veins; spikes solitary, terminal and axillary, (2-)6-8 cm long, few flowers; peduncle filiform, 1-2.5 cm long, slightly pubescent; axil filiform; floral bracts orbicular; fruit directly attached, ovoid, 0.8-0.9 mm long, oblique at apex; stigma below apex.
