Pera oppositifolia Griseb.

Small tree up to 8 m; leaves opposite, ovate-oblong to oblong, pointed to obtuse at the apex, rounded to obtuse at the base, 10-15 cm, hairless on upperside, brown and scaly on underside; involucres axiliary, fasciculate; peduncle 6-10 mm; capsule trigonous to almost globose, 7-10 mm.

Common names: hayabacaná, jayabacaná, yabacaná, yayabacaná.

Species endemic to Cuba.
