Tree up to 25 m, trunk ringed, branching into pairs; leaves at the end of the branches; petiole thick, 30-60 cm; 7-10 leaflets, with rhachis 3-10 cm; leaf surface elliptic, oblong or oblong-obovate, 20-40 cm, acuminate, usually almost heart-shaped, in young plants serrated, tomentose on the underside; compound panicles, 20-60 cm, tomentose; pedicels 2-6 mm, calyx 2 mm; petals white, 2 mm; fruit bright green, 4-5 mm long, 6-7 mm wide.

Common names: arriero, gavilán, yagruma macho.
