Selenicereus grandiflorus (L.) Britt. & Rose

Climbing stems, up to 2.5 cm diameter; ribs commonly 7-8 or fewer, fossae rounded and wide, spines needle-like, up to 1 cm, brown to grey, mixed with off-white hairs; flower buds with tawny to white hairs; flowers 18-24 cm, exterior segments of perianth elongated, pink-red, white on interior, pointed, entire; fruit ovoid, 8 cm.

Common name: pitahaya.
