Spathodea campanulata Beauv.

Glabrous tree of about 15 m; leaves 30-40 cm; leaflets numbering 9-19, with short petiole, ovate-lanceolate, apex abruptly acuminate, base entire with 2-3 meaty glands, glabrous or slightly pubescent on the underside when young, 5-10 cm; flowers scarlet, in racemes or panicles; calyx coriaceous, curved back, 6.5 cm; corolla 10 cm, ovate lobes, slightly undulating; ovary pappilate; capsule about 20 cm, hairless.
