FUNGI OF UKRAINE, RHYTISMATALES OF UKRAINE

TRYBLIDIOPSIS P. Karst. Rhytismataceae. 1 Ukrainian species on Picea.

Tryblidiopsis pinastri (Pers.) P. Karst. [click here for picture] [click here for picture]. Status. Native; 15 records since 6 August 1925; local, but probably not rare in more mountainous parts. Months. May, June, July, August, October. Regions. Chernihiv, Kiev, Zakarpatska. Habitat. On dead bark and brittle attached twigs of Picea abies, possibly having a rôle in the self-pruning of the tree. Notes. The distinctive 1-septate ascospores of the present fungus make it unlikely to be confused with any other species of the Rhytismatales known from twigs of the Pinaceae. Worldwide. On dead twigs and bark mainly of Picea species, less frequently of other members of the Pinaceae; widespread in Europe, Asia and North America. References. Minter (1997h) [description]; Minter & Dudka (1996) [Ukrainian records].
